President’s Message
Dear NJ Chapter # 25 Member,
The holiday season is around the corner, but just before we start the season we will have our last meeting in 2009. As we are trying to expand our presence and attendees, our November 22nd meeting will be a joint meeting with the members of the WANJ. The next meeting after that will be on January 31, 2010 at our regular meeting place in the Somerville Elks
Our last meeting, on October 4th, was well attended and had a very active mart. Dan Nied’s presentation of “The Hunley Watch - Time in History” was very interesting and drew lots of attention. We hope to have a workshop with Dan in one of our up coming meetings.
We are trying to have different events at every meeting. We can not promise that each time we will have an event that everyone will like, but we will keep trying. Comments and suggestions are always welcome, please come to me with any ideas. The Chapter is willing to “buy” ideas. We will give free mart access for a year to any chapter member in good standing that will come with an idea for an interesting meeting that will be accepted by the chapter officers.
Our speaker for the next meeting will be Tom McIntyre, author of “J. Arnold, London No. 212, Restoration of an English center seconds verge watch from the late 18th Century”. Tom is a well known and respected speaker, this is a must for anyone who studies restorations or would like to.
We are trying to arrange a group learning-day, probably during the weekend, at the York Time Institute for a reduced price. In order to have a reduced price the Chapter needs to commit to a minimum amount of attendees. Please let me know if you are interested in participating in such an event.
If you received a notice of “dues due” on the mailing address it means that you have not paid the 2009 – 2010 dues yet. Please send in your dues of $8. Annual fees are what keep the Chapter going.
As usual we will have a silent auction and door prizes.
Scheduled (but not confirmed yet) meetings for 2010 are as follows:
January 31, 2010, April 11, 2010, June 13th, 2010, September 19, 2010, November 21, 2010
I hope to see you all at the November 22nd meeting.
Best regards; and Happy Holidays
Yair Segev
President, NJ Chapter #25, NAWCC
